Harry's experience with the Melbourne Storm!

stormYear 10 student Harry Bazley for the past 9 years has had the privilege of being the Melbourne Storm ballboy for their away games. Harry has been a part of the Melbourne Storm setup throughout the salary cap scandal in 2009 all the way up until the Grand Final win last year and into 2018. Harry arrives early for games, helping set up the warmup and stays back after the game to assist clean up. His role allows him to mingle with players and staff before and after games as well as running out with the players.

We caught up with Harry to get an insight into what his experience has been like.

"I have been able to get to know a lot of the players over the years and they have always been very welcoming and up for a chat. It has been great to get to know some of the NRL greats like Cam Smith, Billy Slater and Cooper Cronk. Former Storm player Ryan Hinchcliffe sent me all of his Melbourne training gear when he left the club which was great. It has been really good to get to know Josh Addo-Carr as well, he grew up around my area and we know some of the same people. It has been such a great experience to see how a good footy team works. To be involved in the past 2 Grand Finals and especially last year being on the field when they won and then singing the song in the sheds was an amazing experience".

Harry's time with the Melbourne Storm is coming to an end at the conclusion of this season. Congratulations and well done Harry. Below is a photo that Australian, Queensland and Melbourne Storm player Billy Slater posted on Instagram of Harry and himself after a recent NRL game.
