On Friday 8 June, the Teaching and Support Staff had their annual Mission Day. This day assisted in the ongoing spiritual formation of all staff at St John Paul II Catholic College.
The staff experienced a tour of St Mary’s Cathedral in Sydney, learning about the rich history of Catholicism in New South Wales, and its growth through Sydney’s first Catholic Church - St Mary’s Cathedral. They were then taken down to the Crypt where they were able to respect the remains of St Mary’s Cathedral’s founders and pioneering Catholics.
After the tour, staff participated in groups on a pilgrimage walk throughout the city, with reflection activities designed to extend their knowledge on Human Dignity throughout the world. Staff learnt about what we can do to help and raise awareness for people in countries not as privileged as Australia, including the refugees currently arriving on our shores.
The responses from the day were very positive, with staff commending the organisers of the day on their creativity and resourcefulness.
