StJPII Rock it at the Kool Schools Awards!

StJPII Kool Schools

Throughout this year several St John Paul II Catholic College students were involved in recording music projects in conjunction with a statewide school project entitled "Kool Schools."

Kool Schools required each school to put together an album of completely original songs, some of which we have played at school in the mornings and at assemblies. Our students are quite talented at composing liturgical based pop tunes!

The StJPII album was called "Progression," as it has featured songs from several years gone by and included students from Year 7 - Year 12 in 2015. When the album arrives it will be available online and in hard copy and I will notify staff and the community if you wish to purchase. The funds raised will be used for recording projects for next years album.

Finally, Mr McDonald and Miss Vella were in attendance at the award ceremony where several Year 10 students (Josh Trindad, Luis Reyes, Kyle Diy and Ginuja Gangoda) performed their original song "Kickflip."

Our school was presented with two awards from several nominations:

1. BEST POP SONG (Jack Moore, Joshua Calvar, Josh Trinidad, David Sulliman, Samantha Poullos, Carl Republica)
2. BEST SONGWRITERS OF A BALLAD (Samantha Poullos & Rebecca McMillan)

We also had nominations for:
Best Male Vocal (Kyle Diy)
Best Pop Track (Kyle Diy, Josh Trinidad, Luis Reyes, Ginuja Gangoda)
Best Mainstream Release (Francinne Buenaagua, Dylan Osmound, Alishia Anderson, Danielle Gatt, Brandon Saldouzi, Samantha D'SIlva, Brandon Hogan)

AND we were nominated for Koolest School at the end and only just missed out.

These awards alone, are a massive achievements for these students and our school. Congratulations from all of us in the St John Paul II community!
