Year 9 student, Chloe Poulsen, has recently won the 14 Years Australian Physie and Dance Nationals at the Sydney Opera House as well as a $600 Brent Street Scholarship!
Chloe shares with us her amazing achievements in dance:
"I have been doing Physie since I was 2 and a half, with Physie running through my whole family. I am a 4th generation National Champion. I go to Castle Hill Physie and Dance, with my grandmother (Lesley Poulsen) being one of my teachers. Although I have been doing Physie for a long time, I never made the National final (top 14) until last year, placing 5th in Australia. This year I placed first and won the Brent Street Scholarship.
Australian Physie and Dance incorporates Physie, modern dance, ballet, lyrical, stretch, strengthening exercises and performing routines choreographed to contemporary music. APDA has around 50 clubs located throughout New South Wales and Queensland. Each year APDA holds the Senior (13+) Grand Finals at the Sydney Opera House, where we compete for National Placings. The night begins off with an opening performance from the Junior grand finalists and ends with the Open Senior Grand Champion performing a solo. Opera house night is truly magical for everyone who attends, whether you're watching or competing!"
Well done Chloe, and good luck for all your future dancing endeavours from all of us in the StJPII community!
