St John Paul II Catholic College Schofields has been selected as one of the recipients of the NSW Premier’s ANZAC Memorial Scholarships for 2019.

The Premier’s Anzac Memorial Scholarship funds a study tour for 20 students to travel to Germany, France and Belgium during September and October in 2019. Students will visit the battlefields where Australians fought to learn about the causes of the First and Second World Wars, and to commemorate the service of Australian men and women.

The College was one of 20 schools chosen in the ballot out of 100's of NSW High Schools. Now, it is up to The Office for Veterans Affairs who will consider the candidates put forward by each school and to complete the final selection process and choose one student per school.

St John Paul II Principal Jim Fanning said all interested students of St John Paul II have been invited to apply. “It is a wonderful experience for the students and the process in applying will also benefit many of them,’’ he said.

There is a selection criteria involved and students need to submit a piece of work before being selected for an interview. The final decision is expected to be made towards the end of the year.

"This will be an amazing opportunity for one blessed St John Paul II Catholic College student. We will update the community as the selection process unfolds.’’ Mr Fanning said.
