“A-maze-ing” Learning with Robots Club

2020 Robotics 1

Over the last three weeks students at St John Paul II Catholic College have been working collaboratively to learn about the hardware and software involved in robotics.

Under the tuition of the leaders from MYROBO the students have learnt how to construct simple and complex circuits, worked through problem solving techniques and have started to write code for robots to perform specific tasks.

Each of the students were engaged and demonstrated high levels of ingenuity, especially when working with motors. Some of the students have worked out they could use a motor as a generator to power LEDs and buzzers furthering their understanding of electricity and how it can be produced.

On Thursday, October 29th, the students participated in a code writing exercise to learn how computers function and why specific instructions are needed in coding robots. In the coming weeks the students will be working in groups to program a robot to move through a maze and set up an automated watering system for the agriculture plots.

Melissa Prestons: I've really enjoyed working as a team to solve problems and completing the challenges

Aarya Talati: This has been a great learning experience and I thoroughly enjoyed it
