On Wednesday 1 August, Mrs Williams and her team of students yet again went out with the Vinnies Van to aid the homeless in Parramatta and Mt Druitt.
They start the evening at the Caroline Chisholm Centre at Mount Druitt where they work together to prepare food to take out in the Vinnies Van to two locations - North Parramatta and Mt Druitt. The volunteers hand out sandwiches and snacks and make hot coffee, tea and milo to give to people who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness.
This is also an opportunity for our students to engage with the less fortunate in our community, and provide perspective into their own lives. Some of these people receive no other food or communication throughout the day, and are very thankful for what Vinnies Van provides; which is a non-judgmental, free service that will not refuse assistance to anyone who approaches it.
Thank you to our students and teachers who are regular volunteers with the Vinnies Van. Your work in the community does not go unnoticed!
